edh inc. |   Tee's Plus  |   Powers  |   Signature Apparel  |   D.A.R.E.

CPSIA Compliant

edh inc. printed products are now lead and phthalate free. edh inc. products are now fully compliant with the CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY IMPROVEMENT ACT OF 2008 - Sections 108(a) and 108(b)(1).

What does this mean to consumers? You can be assured that the products you buy from us are safe for children. Our inks are lead and phthalate free. Our factory and machinery has been thoroughly cleaned of “old ink”. Our old ink stocks have been taken off premises and disposed of in the proper way in accordance with the EPA laws.

What are phthalates? Phthalates are a group of chemicals (oily, colorless liquids) that are used, among other things, to make inks, vinyl and other plastics soft and flexible. Many types of phthalates are in use today. As of February 10, 2009, three have been prohibited outright in the United States for use in certain products and three more are prohibited pending further action by the Commission.

Phthalates are considered hazardous waste and regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency as air and water pollutants. Phthalates are now banned from products that may come in contact with children under 12.

Why are phthalates banned? The FDA states that studies show that Phthalates may contribute to hormonal changes in children and reproductive problems. Phthalates have been linked to serious health concerns including birth defects, early puberty in girls (a risk factor for breast cancer) and liver cancer.

Make sure when you buy screen printed products ask “Are your products Lead and Phthalate free?”
